The Architecture of Serenity explored how the stillness of August could move beyond architecture and into the lived experience of the hotel, bringing sound, scent, clothing and behaviour together within one serene world.
Set within a former Augustinian convent, August is defined by a particular sense of stillness — expressed through its architecture, materials and rhythm.
The Architecture of Serenity explored how that same quality could extend beyond the physical space and into the lived experience of the hotel.
Sound, scent, clothing and behaviour were considered as expressions of one idea: from the atmosphere accompanying different moments of the day to the pace of a welcome, the presence of staff and the sensory character of the environment.
Developed through strategy and concept. The project did not proceed into creative direction or implementation.
